Twitter Rage Turns Social Media Support

A blogger named Anna Megan Raley calls herself “Claire Crawford” and is making waves on the cheer Web. Recently, Raley recently called an Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader named Kelsey Williams fat. Specifically, the blogger said that Williams is “too chunky” to be a cheerleader.

However, Claire wasn’t satisfied to stop there. She went on to criticize the cheerleader’s figure at length. She even posted a poll for readers to respond in judging just how fat the cheerleader really is.

As can be expected, some Twitter rage appeared after that. Many fans went on to talk about how “offensive” the remarks were, even calling them “disgusting.” Many people went on to give Williams a lot of support across all of her different social media outlets.

On fan told Kelly she was beautiful just the way she is. Once Kelsey Williams’ face was plastered all over the Internet, she wrote a response on Twitter talking about how great all the support she’s had has been and how she’s in awe of all the love coming in. She talked also about “To be womanly always, discouraged never…”.

So it seems like all the blogger really accomplished is uniting most of the Internet behind a random cheerleader. This is an accomplishment of sorts, perhaps. But it definitely wasn’t her original intention. But, as cheerleaders, we should be proud of the community shown after an unnecessary attack.
